Welcome to Nigels Learn 2 Swim School

I have three swim schools, which all operate with just myself running the administration side as well as the Teaching side of the schools. I have had swim schools since 1997, before that working for the local Leisure Centre on a part time basis. I have been Chief Coach at Hinckley Swimming Club and Chief Coach for Derbyshire County Squad. I had the pleasure of having Ross Davenport in the squad who last year went to the Olympic games in the 200mtrs Freestyle event.

I have competed in swimming myself. My last event was in 1996 at the World Masters in Sheffield.

I deliver Seminars to keep Swimming Teachers updated on Technique etc, which I have been doing for the last 10 years for

the IOS (Institute Of Swimming). I am the Author of 5 of the presentations that are delivered throughout the Country by myself and other Tutors.Through this I have become popular with Swimming Teachers all over Great Britain for bringing new ideas about Technique and Communication to help them deliver their own swimming sessions.

My approach is, we have fun in the lessons but we also know my parameters. I make them feel good about themselves, about what they achieve each week. I do push them, but only a little, so that they don’t stagnate each week and not get
de-motivated because it is too difficult for them. Psychology is important to me. Each child is different and my approach to each one is different, my aim is to make them confident in the water respect it, and move through it very efficiently. I believe our swimmers need a strong Basic Core Skills approach so that over time they make excellent strong, sound, efficient and confident swimmers. With an enjoyable experience to go with it.

My work in swimming is very varied, which I think helps me with a fuller picture of what I should be doing with the Children for them to reach their full potential.
